The dates may vary but the script remains the same, the perpetrators may be different, but the victims remain the same. In just the state of (united) Andhra Pradesh alone, two massacres, separated by a decade, came to define the state of the downtrodden and marginalized sections of the society even after forty years of independence. Karamchedu in 1985 and Chundur in 1991, two incidents, marked by casteist hegemony and oppressive establishment, have truly shown the place of Dalits in the then progressive times, as one far removed from the rest of the society - socially, economically, politically and culturally. Though there were other incidents, smaller and minor (meaning, the killings didn't rise to the level to being bestowed with a 'massacre' title) in prior and subsequent periods all the way chalking up to the current times, Karamchedu and Chundur remain etched in annals of Dalit history no less in impact and significance than a Jalian Wallah Bagh for its grotesque savagery and establishment's entitlement. Both the incidents started off as run of the mill tiffs that remain a regular fixture in rural India - Upper caste youths washing their wares at the water holes reserved for Dalits in one case, a Dalit man's feet accidentally grazing an Upper caste lady in a movie theater in the second one. That such incidents could incite pogroms the levels of which never seen before in village politics, with the upper caste youths, at the behest of their caste elders, cordoning off the Dalit's living areas hacking away the conscientious objectors and outraging the modesty of their women, all to show them their place by stripping off their basic dignity as fellow human beings and reducing them to a level below it, is a constant reminder that if Gandhiji's saying that India lives in its villages is indeed true then independence or not, the same divide and rule at the hands of Indians remains to be just as dangerous as in hands of the British when it comes to the matters of oppression.
Dalit milieu has never been treated as commercially viable in telugu cinema, unless the setting happens to be in the way of an upper caste hero, like finding himself in there trying to bring about some reformation. Even then the focus was on the (upper caste) hero's realization of hitherto unkown facet of the society that remained purposefully hidden from the rest of the civilized world. There was nary a voice from the dalit-wada nor was there a dalit-wallah to give a first hand account of what it feels to belong to a marginalized section, to conduct themselves in a subservient manner to the elders of the village, to have their homes and communities far flung from the main streets, to have their motives questioned, to have their moves watched over, to essentially be a second rate citizen in their own country. And to top it, the burning issue of cross-caste love affairs and marriages, where the parents would rather their kids be dead than be caught in a relationship with a dalit man, and to really rub it in, term it an "honor" killing as though the people from the other side of the street are steeped in dishonor and disrepute and the only kind of washing away the shame is through blood, the effect that all these can have on a person's psyche while growing up in the segregated quarters taught, trained and instilled to always remain guarded, both of the intentions of upper castes and the instincts of their own - this voice was never the voice of the protagonist in the mainstream. Accessories to someone else's realization, yes, accomplices in someone else's road to redemption, yes, but a protagonist in his own personal journey, never....until now... until 'Palasa 1978'
'Palasa 1978' is not a polished product, in fact, it appears to be constantly shifting focus, unsure most times of which point it wants to emphasize, and caught trying to say too many things at the same time. But that is all beside the point. 'Palasa' is an important film, only because someone chose to depict a side, voice a viewpoint that is rarely (well, never) seen on the telugu screen. While the rest of industries - tamil, malayalam, kannada, and even marathi (in its latest 'Sairat') - have taken rapid strides in bringing to fore the stories of the oppressed, telugu has remained obstinately oblivious to the lives of this section, often glossing it over with pie in the sky solutions. This section is not looking for any solution or waiting for a redemption, in fact, they are quite comfortable in their own skin and in their own manner. All that they are looking for is a place at the table from where they could narrate their own experiences of what it means to grow up a dalit to a society that is in a self-congratulatory and chest-thumping mode for providing the incentives and reservations to bring them on par with the rest (voiced in an excellent speech in the climax by the SI character). Whether 70 years of reservations have indeed changed the fates of majority of the dalit community remains to be answered, the fact that there is an opposition already to those incentives from a section of the majority claiming that economic status alone should be the criterion for them, goes on to show how little the majority understand about the dalit experience, that a section of people remains at the fringes of the mainstream not because they don't have enough but because they are not deemed enough. The strength of 'Palasa 1978' doesn't lie in its execution, but in its intention. Three Cheers!

'పలాస 1978' సినిమా ప్రమోషన్ ఇప్పటికే వార్తల్లో నిలిచింది. ఇది అంబేద్కర్ వాద సినిమా అని, దీన్ని దళితులు తప్పకుండా చూడాలని, వారే చూడకపోతే ఎలా అని తమ్మారెడ్డి భరద్వాజ వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. సినిమా ఏదైనా కావొచ్చు.. దాన్ని ఒక కులం వారు చూడాలి, ఆ కులం వారు చూడకపోతే ఎలా.. అంటూ ప్రశ్నించడం గమనార్హమే. హాట్ కామెంట్స్ చేయడం తమ్మారెడ్డికి అలవాటే. ఈ క్రమంలో పలాసకు ప్రచారం కల్పించడానికి ఆయన చేసిన కుల కామెంట్లు మీడియాలో చర్చనీయాంశంగా నిలిచాయి.
కట్ చేస్తే.. ఇప్పుడు పలాస సినిమా ప్రమోషన్ కోసం డైరెక్టుగా మందకృష్ణ మాదిగ రంగంలోకి దిగడం గమనార్హం! బాబాసాహేబ్ అంబేడ్కర్ మీద గౌరవం ఉన్న ప్రతి ఒక్కరు చూడాల్సిన సినిమా ఇది అని అన్నారు మందకృష్ణ మాదిగ. ఈ సినిమా ఒక్కసారి చూస్తే సరిపోదు అని, పది సార్లు చూసినా తక్కువ కాదని ఆయన చెప్పుకొచ్చారు.
చిరంజీవి నటించిన స్వయంకృషి, దాసరి నారాయణ రావు తీసిన సినిమాలు చాలావరకు సామాజిక కోణాల్లో ఉంటాయని, అటువంటి గొప్ప చిత్రాలు మళ్లీ రావు అనుకున్నామని.. వాటి తర్వాత ఈ సినిమానే అని మందకృష్ణ చెప్పారు. దళితులు ఈ సినిమా తప్పక చూడాలని తమ్మారెడ్డి భరద్వాజ పిలుపునిస్తే, దళితవాద నేత మందకృష్ణ డైరెక్టుగా ఈ సినిమా ప్రచారం చేస్తున్నారు.
1978 ప్రాంతంలో శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లాలోని పలాసలో జరిగిన కొన్ని వాస్తవ సంఘటనల నేపథ్యంలో తెరకెక్కిన చిత్రం ‘పలాస 1978’. రక్షిత్, నక్షత్ర జంటగా తెరకెక్కిన ఈ చిత్రంతో కరుణకుమార్ అనే నూతన దర్శకుడు టాలీవుడ్కు పరిచయమయ్యాడు. ధ్యాన్ అట్లూరి నిర్మిస్తున్న ఈ చిత్రంలో రఘు కుంచె కీలక పాత్ర పోషిస్తూ సంగీతమందించాడు. ఇప్పటికే విడుదలై చిత్ర ట్రైలర్, పాటలు ఆకట్టుకోవడంతో భారీ అంచనాల నడుమ ఈ చిత్రం శుక్రవారం ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చింది. ఇంతకీ 1978లో పలాసలో ఏం జరిగింది? ఆ తర్వాత జరిగిన పరిణామాలు ఏంటి? తొలి చిత్రంతో దర్శకుడు విజయం సాధించాడా? అన్ని వర్గాల ప్రేక్షకులను ఈ చిత్రం ఆకట్టుకుందా? అనేది మన రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం.
కథ:
అగ్రవర్ణాల నీరు, ఆహారం, గడప మైల పడకుండా.. సమాజానికి దూరంగా.. వారి అవసరాలకు దగ్గరగా పలాస పొలిమేరలో ఉండే అంబుసొలి అనే కాలనీ ప్రజల చుట్టూ ఈ సినిమా కథ తిరుగుతుంది. ఇదే కాలనీలో రంగారావు(తిరువీర్), మోహన్ రావు (రక్షిత్)లు అనే ఇద్దరు అన్నదమ్ములు ఉంటారు. తండ్రి పద్యాల సుందర్ రావు (సమ్మెట గాంధీ) చిన్నప్పట్నుంచి నేర్పించిన పద్యాలు, జానపద గీతాలతో అనేక గ్రామాల్లో ప్రోగ్రామ్స్ చేస్తూనే.. ఆ ఊర్లోని పెద్ద షావుకారు లింగమూర్తి (జనార్దన్), చిన్న షావుకారు గురుమూర్తి (రఘు కుంచె)ల జీడిపప్పు బట్టీల్లో పనిచేస్తుండేవారు. అయితే లింగమూర్తి, గురుమూర్తిలు ఇద్దరు అన్నదమ్ములైన వారిద్దరి మధ్య పచ్చగడ్డి వేస్తే భగ్గుమంటుంది.
తన చిన్నతనం నుంచి మోహన్ రావుకు మరదలు లక్షి(నక్షత్ర) అంటే ఎంతో ఇష్టం. లక్ష్మికి కూడా బావ మోహన్ రావు అంటే ఎనలేని ప్రేమ. అయితే తన చిన్నతనం నుంచి కుల వివక్ష కారణంగా రగిలిపోయే మోహన్ రావు తరుచూ షావుకార్లతో గొడవకు దిగేవాడు. ఆ తర్వాత కొన్ని పరిస్థితుల కారణంగా గురుమూర్తి దగ్గరే పనిచేస్తూ అతడికి నమ్మిన బంటుగా మారిపోయాడు. అయితే సవ్యంగా సాగుతున్న సమయంలో ఎన్నికల కారణంగా రంగారావు, మోహన్రావుల జీవితాలు తలకిందులవుతాయి. గొడవలు, హత్యలతో పలాసలో భయానక వాతావరణం అలుముకుంటుంది. ఓ వైపు పోలీసులు మరోవైపు గురుమూర్తి.. మోహన్, రంగాలను అంతం చేయాలని పథకాలు రచిస్తుంటారు. ఈ పరిస్థితుల నుంచి రంగా, మోహన్లు బయటపడ్డారా? గొడవలు, హత్యలకు ఆ ఇద్దరన్నదమ్ములు ఎందుకు పాల్పడతారు? కథ సుఖాంతమైందా? అనేది తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే.
నటీనటులు:
దాదాపు అంతా కొత్త తారాగణమే. పెద్దగా పరిచయంలేని పేర్లు. ఈ చిత్రంలో రంగారావు, మోహన్ రావు పాత్రలు ప్రధానమైనవి. ఈ రెండు పాత్రలకు తిరువీర్, రక్షిత్లు న్యాయం చేశారు. ముఖ్యంగా రక్షిత్ అన్ని వేరియేషన్స్ ఉన్న పాత్ర లభించింది. బాధ, కోపం, ప్రేమ ఇలా అన్ని భావాలను చాలా చక్కగా పలికించాడు. యాక్షన్ సీన్స్లలో కూడా దుమ్ముదులిపాడు. అయితే నటుడిగా ఇంకాస్త మెరుగుపడాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని కొన్ని సీన్లను చూస్తే అనిపిస్తుంటుంది. ఇక ఈ సినిమాలో హీరోయిన్కు ఎక్కువ ప్రాధాన్యత లేదు. అయితే ఉన్న కొన్ని సీన్లలోనైనా నక్షత్ర ఆకట్టుకుంది. నేచురల్గా, అందంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. నెగటీవ్ రోల్లో కనిపించిన రఘు కుంచె పలు సీన్లలో రావు రమేశ్ను తలపిస్తాడు. తన అనుభవంతో గురుమూర్తి ప్రాతలో ఒదిగిపోయాడు. లక్ష్మణ్, తిరువీర్లు తమ పాత్రలకు ప్రాణం పోశారు. మిగతా తారాగణం వారి పరిధి మేరకు ఆకట్టుకున్నారు.
విశ్లేషణ:
కుల వివక్ష.. అప్పటికీ, ఇప్పటికీ సమాజం ఎదుర్కొంటున్న అతి పెద్ద సమస్య. ఇలాంటి అతి సున్నితమైన అంశాన్నే కథాంశంగా తీసుకుని సినిమాను తెరకెక్కించిన దర్శకుడి ప్రయత్నానికి హ్యాట్సాప్ చెప్పాలి. ఎందుకంటే ఇలాంటి కథలు కత్తి మీద సాము వంటిది. ఏ మాత్రం బ్యాలెన్స్ తప్పిన బొక్క బోర్లా పడటం ఖాయం. దీంతో తొలి సినిమాతోనే దర్శకుడు కరుణకుమార్ చాలా ధైర్యం చేశాడనే చెప్పాలి. అయితే తాను అనుకున్న కథ, కథాంశాన్ని పర్ఫెక్ట్ ఎగ్జిక్యూషన్ చేయడంలో కాస్త తడబడ్డాడనే చెప్పాలి.
సినిమా ప్రారంభమైన వెంటనే అసలు కథ ఏంటో అర్థమవుతుంది. అక్కడి నుంచి రొటీన్గా సాగిపోతూ ఉంటుంది. ఎందుకుంటే ఇలాంటి కథలు విన్నాం, చదివాం. ఇదివరకే ఎన్నో సినిమాల్లో చూశాం. అయితే ఏదైన డిఫరెంట్ పాయింట్ చెబుతాడనే ఆసక్తి.. ఏమైనా కొత్తదనం చూపిస్తాడని ఆశపడ్డ సగటు ప్రేక్షకుడికి నిరాశే మిగులుతుంది. ఒకే పంథాలో సినిమా సాగుతూ ఉంటుంది. మధ్య మధ్యలో వచ్చే లవ్ సీన్స్ అతికించినట్టు ఉంటాయి.
కులవివక్షను కూడా అంత బలంగా తెరపై చూపించలేదు. ఒకవేళ ఎక్కువగా చూపించి ఉంటే ప్రేక్షకుడు కథలో లీనమయ్యేవాడు. ఎమోషన్స్ సీన్లు కూడా ఎక్కడా టచ్ కావు. ఇక సినిమా మొత్తం ఉత్తరాంధ్ర స్లాంగ్లోనే మాటలు ఉంటాయి. అయితే ఉత్తరాంధ్ర స్లాంగే సినిమాకు బలం, బలహీనత. ఎందుకంటే కొన్ని చోట్ల ఆ మాటలు ఆకట్టుకోగా.. మరికొన్ని చోట్ల సరిగా అర్థం కాని పరిస్థితి ఎదురవుతుంది. ఇక అన్ని వర్గాల ప్రేక్షకునే విధంగా తీర్చిదిద్దడంలో ఇంకాస్త వర్క్ చేస్తే బాగుండేది.
సాంకేతిక నిపుణుల విషయానికి వస్తే.. పాటలు బాగున్నా సినిమాకు అంతగా ప్లస్ కావు. రఘు కుంచె అందించిన బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ మ్యూజిక్ కొన్ని చోట్ల ఆకట్టుకోగా మరికొన్ని చోట్ల రణగొనధ్వనులను తలపిస్తాయి. స్క్రీన్ ప్లే, సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. ప్రేక్షకుడిని 1978 ప్రాంతంలోకి తీసుకెళ్లడానికి సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ, ఆర్ట్ విభాగం చాలానే కష్టపడ్డట్లు సినిమాను చూస్తే అర్థమవుతుంది. ఎడిటింగ్పై ఇంకాస్త దృష్టి పెట్టాల్సిఉంది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమాకు తగ్గట్టు ఉన్నాయి. ఫైనల్గా చెప్పాలంటే ఇలాంటి చిత్రాలు ఎక్కువగా మనం కోలీవుడ్లో చూస్తుంటాం.. మరి అప్డేట్ అయిన తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు పలాస ‘1978’ ను ఏ మేరకు ఆదరిస్తారో చూడాలి.

Palasa 1978 is a film that has been promoted a lot in the last few days. The film directed by Karuna Kumar has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
The film is set in early 1978 in a village called Palasa which falls in Srikakulam district. Guru Murthy(Raghu Kunche) and his brother always keep suppressing the poor and two brothers revolt against them. Things become so serious that these brothers leave everything and become goons in order to save themselves and their tribe. The rest of the story is as to what happened to their lives and how they try to bring about a change in that area.
Plus Points:
The film is filled with a lot of realistic scenes which look quite hard-hitting on screen. There are no forced emotions in the film and that is the biggest asset. The screenplay is the biggest plus as none of the scenes lack logic or are there just for the sake of it.
Raghu Kunche is the surprise package of the film as he is quite good as the main villain. He has changed his body language a lot and will be a good character actor if given more chances. But his best work is the music and BGM that lift the film to a whole new level.
Young hero Rakshit, is good in his hard-hitting role and makes full use of the opportunities. The actor who played his brother is also superb in the film. The combination of scenes between the brothers is very good. The first half of the film is racy as director Karuna has stuck to the theme.
Minus Points:
The story of the film is quite predictable as it is te fight between the rich and the poor. So, you can easily guess what is going to happen next. The film is clearly for a section of the audience who likes dark and serious cinema.
The climax of the film lacks the punch even though it is ended with a good message. The way the hero’s character is shown roaming around and comes back after years to take revenge once again looks a bit artificial.
Technical Aspects:
As said earlier, the music and BGM by Raghu Kunche is top-notch. The production values of the film are superb as the film looks rich for the money spent. The art direction and camera work need special mention as the locations and the gritty areas of Palasa have been showcased superbly. But the dialogues need a special mention as they are novel, realistic and some are even quite depthful. Editing in the second half could have been better.
Coming to the director Karuna Kumar, he makes a decent debut and is surely a find. His eye for detail is superb and the way he has extracted performances is also top-notch. The message he has conveyed through the film and the manner in which he narrated the film with a good screenplay makes the film look interesting.
Verdict:
On the whole, Palasa 1978 is a realistic village drama that showcases the atrocities of the rich towards the backward castes in the early years. Realistic performances, good screenplay, and superb dialogues are basic assets. On the flip side, a predictable storyline, a bit slow second half takes the film down. The film is a for the select audience but needs to be encouraged as it is rustic, hard hitting and can be given a shot this weekend for it’s unique setup.
Films with regional backdrop are on the rise in Telugu cinema in the recent past. 'Rangasthalam' with Godavari dialect, 'Fidaa' with Banswada backdrop, 'C/o Kancharapalam' with Vizag nativity, etc. are the examples. Now, 'Palasa' has been made in the Srikakulam district backdrop. All these films have a common point, the beauty of the local dialects. When the period backdrop is added to it, the ambiance will surely grab the attention. Karuna Kumar directorial 'Palasa' is able to create expectations in a section of the audience. Even a couple of dialogues in the trailer struck a chord with the audience. The movie appears to be a fight between two caste groups similar to that of 'Rangasthalam'. Let us go through the review to know what's special in Palasa.
Story:
There is a zamindar (Janni) in 1978 in a village. He has a younger brother named Guru Murthy (Raghu Kunche). Both of them are village rulers. They belong to a caste in which people wear a sacred thread. They control the whole of village. They misuse the power and treat lower caste people badly. They beat them like animals thinking that it's their birthright. Both these brothers have internal issues. They are the villains of the movie.
Mohan Rao(Rakshit) belongs to the caste who wear anklets and dance before the god. He is a strong guy. He has an elder brother(Tiruveer). Mohan Rao likes a girl(Nakshatra) in the same village. Mohan Rao and Tiruveer are very close to each other and they are the heroes of our story. SI Sebastian(Rama Raju) played another key role in the film. How the villain brothers try to use these heroes and who gets killed in the process forms the rest of the story.
The Performances:
Rakshit delivered a good performance as Mohan Rao. He played his part naturally.
Tiruveer who acted earlier in George Reddy also did his part well.
Nakshatra appeared beautiful on the screen but there is not much scope to perform.
Janni who played the role of Zamindar played his role like an experienced actor.
Singer cum music director Raghu Kunche stole the show in the role of Guru Murthy. He appeared in two-three getups which run from 1978 to 2018. He can seriously focus on negative roles from now.
The actor who played the role of Sebastian is also impressive. If he has a base voice the role might have looked complete.
The makers have opted for insignificant actors for small roles. The doctor who comes to speak to Zamindar's son, SI who appears in the climax, the actor who played the role of Mutyalu are not so impressive. The makers might have chosen better actors those can carry intensity.
The movie appears to be realistic but the makers followed commercial format when it comes to action sequences. But the action sequences gelled with the story. Raghu Kunche's music is impressive. His music turned out to be one of the big assets.
Director:
Karuna Kumar is an award-winning short filmmaker and a talented director. The films made on Dalit backdrop are rare in Telugu They are quite common in Tamil. 'Dorasani' movie was made in the same backdrop but it could not impress the audience. 'Palasa' has Dalit backdrop but it impresses all sections of the audience. The movie appears to be inspired by 'Rangasthalam' but it is an independent story. All the characters in the story have significance. The hard work of the director in writing the story is visible.

The audience who don't like realistic films, who wants to watch only star hero films, who likes to laugh for logic free slapstick comedy can stay away from this movie.

1978 కాలంలో ఊర్లో పెద్ద షావుకారు (జన్ని). అతనికొక తమ్ముడు. పేరు గురుమూర్తి (రఘు కుంచె). వీళ్లు ఆ ఊరికి పెద్దలు. జంధ్యం వేసుకునే ఒకానొక కులానికి చెందిన వాళ్లు. వీళ్ల కనుసన్నల్లో ఊరు నడుస్తుంటుంది. ఆధిపత్యం వల్ల వచ్చిన పొగరు వీళ్ల సొంతం. అలాగే బడుగు కులాల వారిని హీనంగా చూడడం, పశువుల్ని బాదినట్టు బాదడం వీళ్ల జన్మహక్కులా భావిస్తూ జీవిస్తుంటారు. ఇంతకీ ఈ అన్నదమ్ములిద్దరికీ పడదు. వీళ్లు ఈ సినిమాలో విలన్లు. అదలా ఉంటే కాళ్లకి గజ్జెకట్టి దేవుడి ముందు ఆడే కులానికి చెందిన ఒక బలవంతుడైన కుర్రాడు. పేరు మోహన రావు (రక్షిత్). అదే వాడలో అతనికి ఇష్టమైన ఒక అమ్మాయి (నక్షత్ర). ఈ మోహన రావుకి ఒక అన్న (తిరువీర్). ఈ అన్నదమ్ములిద్దరూ అన్యోన్యంగా ఉంటారు. వీళ్లు మన హీరోలు. ఇక ఈ కథలో మరో ముఖ్య పాత్ర పోలీస్ ఎస్.ఐ సెబాస్టియన్ (రామరాజు). పైన పేర్కొన్న విలన్ అన్నదమ్ములు ఈ హీరో అన్నదమ్ముల్ని ఎలా వాడుకుందామనుకుంటారు? చివరికి ఎవరు ఏమౌతారు? ఎవరెవరు ఎవరెవరి చేతుల్లో చస్తారు? అదంతా ఒక భారతమంత కథ.
విశ్లేషణ:
మోహన్ రావుగా రక్షిత్ చక్కని నటన్నని కనబరిచాడు. సహజమైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. జార్జ్ రెడ్డిలో కనిపించిన తిరువీర్ కూడా పాత్రకు తగ్గ నటన చాలా సహజంగా చేసాడు.
హీరో రక్షిత్ అద్భుతంగా నటించాడు, డిఫరెంట్ వేరియేషన్స్ ఉన్న రోల్ లో నటించి మెప్పించాడు.
నక్షత్ర తెర మీద అందంగా కనిపించింది. తన నటనా ప్రతిభ బాగుంది. ఇక చెప్పుకోదగ్గ నటన పెద్దషావుకారుగా చేసిన జన్నీది. చాలా అనుభవమున్న నటుడిగా చేసాడు.
ఇక సింగర్ కం మ్యూజిక్ డైరెక్టర్ రఘు కుంచె విలన్ గురుమూర్తి పాత్రలో జీవించాడు. 1978 నుంచి 2018 వరకు జరిగే ఈ కథలో రెండు మూడు రకాల గెటప్పులతో కనిపించాడు. విలన్ గా సీరియస్సుగా ఫోకస్ పెట్టొచ్చు.ఇక సెబాస్టియన్ పాత్రధారి కూడా మెప్పించాడు. అయితే అతని వాయిస్ లో ఇంకొంచెం బేస్ ఉంటే పాత్రకి నిండుదనం వచ్చేది.
రియలిస్టిక్ గా అనిపిస్తూనే ఫైట్లు, హీరోయిజం విషయంలో మళ్లీ కమెర్షియల్ పంథాని తొక్కింది ఈ సినిమా. అది కూడా అతికినట్టే ఉండడం వల్ల ఇబ్బంది పెట్టదు.
రఘు కుంచె సంగీతాన్ని కూడా మెచ్చుకుని తీరాలి. రెండున్నర గంటల సేపు కూర్చోబెట్టగలిందంటే దర్శకుడి ప్రతిభతో పాటూ సంగీత దర్శకుడి పనితనం కూడా కలిసిరాబట్టే.
షార్ట్ ఫిలిమ్స్ తీయడంలో జాతీయ స్థాయి అవార్డులు పొందిన ట్యాలెంటడ్ దర్శకుడు కరుణ కుమార్. దలితవాదం ఆత్మగా వచ్చే సినిమాలు తెలుగులో తక్కువ. అరవంలో అయితే మామూలే. పలాసలో ఆ వాదం ఉన్నా అందరినీ ఆకట్టుకునే తీరులో ఉంది. రంగస్థలం స్ఫూర్తి ఈ సినిమాలో కనిపిస్తున్నా ఇది పూర్తి స్వతంత్ర కథ. ఏ పాత్రా వృధా కాదు. ప్రతిదీ ఎంతోకొంత ఇంపార్టెన్స్ ఉన్నదే. కథ రాసుకోవడం నుంచి తీసి మెప్పించడం వరకు దర్శకుడు పడ్డ కృషి ఆద్యంతం కనిపిస్తుంది. బోరు కొట్టని కథనం ఎలా ఉంటుందో తెలుసుకోవాలనుకునే ప్రేక్షకులు ఈ సినిమా చూడాలి. అదేంటి..ఎవరైనా అలాంటి సినిమానే కదా చూడాలనుకునేది అంటారా? అందరూ కొత్త మొహాలతో కథనం నడపడం కష్టమైన పని. అయినా సరే దర్శకుడు తన ప్రతిభతో మెప్పించాడు.
